Holes

This week we have been learning about the book holes, this is what I think it will be like.

Māori Wayfinders

Over the past few weeks, I have chosen a theme and some questions for Inquiry. The theme I chose was Māori wayfinders, which were people who use the stars for navigation. The 3 questions I chose were, were there any other ways to navigate? How did they know which stars to follow? And how did they know how to use the stars? The main website I used was Matauranga, How Did They Find Their Way.

What’s a question you think I should find out?

The Gummy Bear Takeover

As the incredible coloured gummy bears walked down the path, only one gummy was brave enough to take the last step! The huge gummy bear towered over the army of tiny squishy cute gummy bears like a skyscraper! He was the only one who was brave enough to stand up to the flavoursome gummy bear eating monsters such as humans! But he was losing! One by one the humans were eating the tropical gummy bears even if the gummy bears were using the worst weapon of all, bad TASTE!!! The skyscraper only had one thing to do, he was going to…….RUN!!!! “Abandon cupboard!” He yelled out to all his friends, but it was too late, all of them were eaten! He watched in misery as all of his mouth watering friends were dissolving in the humans mouth!

Summarise

For inquiry I summarised an article. I read the article and picked out the main parts. I wrote these ideas in a shorter way, using my own words . The article is about the amazing author Michel Bush! This is my summary. Michel Bush is an awesome children’s author, who has won many prizes as Music With Michel, the lady who puts smiles on children’s faces!

Elsie Locke

Elsie Locke

1912-2001

Elsie Locke was an author to many brilliant books, such as Two Peoples, One Land and The Runaway Settlers, which was her most successful book. But she wasn’t always an author, she fought for women’s rights, the environment, peace, and many more.

In the 1940’s, she spent a long 2 years in hospital with spinal tuberculosis, but that didn’t stop her! She spent most of her time making poems, magazine articles and radio talks. Elsie was always trying to make New Zealand a better place.

She made a really good impression. School journal writer David Hill said: “I’m 6 feet tall. Elsie is … well, rather less than 6 feet tall. So how come when we meet, I always look up to her?” He said this because not only did she fight for herself, she fought everyone!

6 Story Sentence

‘You don’t belong here!’ The words were playing again and again in my head as I sat slumped down on a branch that was 1,000 kilometers up in the air, but I didn’t care, all I wanted to do was fly freely on my broomstick to the tip of the mountain and explore the exciting human world, but if I went up there, I would betray everybody in the whispering witches and apparently if she likes humans she doesn’t belong. We are called that because we talk really quietly. She had just thought about it and what if the other witches did not see and she goes up there, they would not know, so that’s what she did. She felt a surge of energy explode inside of her as she reached it. But then she noticed that there were thousands of witches getting along with the humans, they lied to me!
